Like you, I could not let my 3 babies cry. The one time I let my firstborn cry it out, he cried so hard that he burst a capillary on his face and left a permanent pink mark below his left eye. He is now 43 years old, and each time I see it, I am reminded of my abandonment that night. I am now almost 73 years old, and I will never regret having those many (beyond measure) nights of no sleep because I chose to comfort and rock my babies back to sleep. You are a wonderful Mommy, and I promise you the days will come when you can go to bed and sleep until the morning light. Many thanks for the precious memories your beautiful writings bring to my remembrance of the most blessed years of my life.

Oh Jan… this hit me. Teddy cries so hard he screams and just RAMPS himself up. Thank you for validating me. Sometimes it’s nice to hear that the choice we are making, even though we are going to make it anyway, is a good one. The whole conversation around sleep training is so controversial!

Being a new Mom is hard but as I sit in SC here celebrating my 72nd birthday with a terrible sinus infection I still remember those sleepless nights with my daughter who is almost 50! I did work full time also! However, when days and years pass so quickly and Teddy sleeps through the night, I promise these tough nights will become a distant memory! Am I making light of it,no! Some days I almost fell asleep at my desk but hang in there! Being a Mom is a precious gift ❤️

It is a beautiful gift to be able to be his safe space. A little fresh air did us all some good today! Almost 60 degrees! So I dragged my tired bones outside and that helped so much

Hi Sam! I’m not a Mamma, but this completely resonated with me. I understand not feeling like your best self, like you’re not doing what’s expected of you and the impossibility of being the “it” for everyone all the time (#MillenialPerfectionist 🤪). Thank you for the reminder to do what’s right for YOU right now, and sharing these moments of vulnerability with us; it really makes a difference!

The millennial perfectionism is truly a thing! So glad it hit you in that way. I hope you take a moment this week to take stock of all you ARE doing well 🙃💛

Hold him. Cuddle him. I did with my colicky, restless baby and she eventually grew out of it and now I have a confident best friend 36 year old daughter

Hannah has been having bouts of ‘super screams’ which have been outside of her character. These have been followed by major chomps on her fingers, so she’s letting us know that she’s teething. I got Legendairy Milk’s teething drops and it comes with a baby toothbrush that you use to rub it into the gums. The action of rubbing the gums seems to soothe her a lot and then the oil kicks in super fast. It’s enough to stop the super screams and then she’ll focus on a pacifier or teething toy. If you’re even just questioning teething - might be something to look into to see if it helps. You can find it on Amazon (comes quicker than Earthly - a brand I like to use for gas). I’m sure you’re trying everything - but just incase I’d thought I’d share what’s helping in our household!
